So it came to this..

I have never owned season tickets for any team. My dad never believed in it and I sort of agreed with it. You're paying for tickets up front, for games you probably won't attend.

After last season, when the Chargers committed to staying in San Diego, I thought long and hard about getting season tickets. If 2016 is the last season in San Diego, I could tell people that I was season ticket holder before they moved.

I waited till a week before the first preseason games to start to reach out to the team. I thought I could negotiate with the team based on the fact that there were plenty of available season ticket seats available.

When I called, there wasn't any room for negotiating.  The handful of season seat holders that signed or renewed got better printed tickets and other goodies. Fine, I thought. I talked myself into this and there is no looking back now.

I got that banner shown on top of this post and this:

A membership card that gets me a discount on merchandise, a pin to wear on game day with a chance to win prizes, and a car decal.

One of the reasons I was interested in doing this is that season ticket holders can tour Qualcomm Stadium. Qualcomm has hosted three Super Bowls and two World Series and it is the only venue to do both in the same year (1998). There is a lot of history in a building that the Chargers want to leave so badly.

I am always conflicted by this because it is the first NFL stadium I have ever been to. I agree that sight lines are awful up front because the seats are right on the field. The video boards areold and  tiny compared to any HDTV.  There are years of deferred maintenance on it.

I don't think the Chargers will relocate to Los Angeles if the vote fails in November. The Rams drew over 89,000 fans for a preseason game. The Chargers won't be able to do that during a regular season game in LA.

Also, if they move to LA, the price for parking will more than cost of tickets.
